Each little Bear is skilled in a very important way—he embodies a common human emotion and enables people to relate to one another on the basis of that shared feeling. The Bears represent a unique way to tell someone, “I know how you’re feeling…I’ve felt that way, too.”.
Whether the emotion is a joyous, upbeat one, or the deep feeling shared between two people at a not-so-happy time, there is a Care Bear to express that feeling.
Each Bear is unique
Each Bear, in its own way, helps us share a feeling with someone we care about. Each Care Bear has its own symbol, color, personality, and method of emotional expression, but all of the Care Bears are dedicated to one common goal: helping people share their feelings with other people. Having a fuzzy, little, lovable way of saying the things closest to our hearts makes difficult emotions that much easier to share. The Care Bears exist to say for people what they might not be able to say for themselves. Care Bears…they help us share our special feelings.
The Symbol represents how people feels with each other
Each Care Bear proudly wears a symbol on his tummy. The symbol represents the special function of each Bear. Tenderheart Bear, for example, wears a beautiful heart on his tummy. The heart is symbolic of the love and acceptance of one human being for another. It is Tenderheart Bear’s special job to help bring forth those words some of us find so difficult to express, like “I love you,” “I need you,” or “I’m so very proud of you.”
All of the Care Bears live in each of us. Somewhere to the left of thought and just a little to the right of reason lies the beautiful world of feelings…and the special home of the Care Bears. In this quiet space of warm feelings and gentle thoughts, the Care Bears meander from one soft place to the next.
Care-a-lot is a world for Care Bears
You might never be able to take a walk through the special world of the Care Bears, but if you open your imagination and look deep inside yourself, you can feel what their home is like. It’s a place called Care-a-lot— one of soft pastel clouds drifting lazily by, and rainbows tumbling about in scattered splashes of color.
Shimmering necklaces of hearts and stars decorate the fluffy surroundings. Looking closer, you would see that each Bear has its own little home fashioned out of one of the many clouds floating gently about. Each cloud-home echoes the personality of the bear who lives there. On another of the floating cloud islands is the Hall of Hearts where all the Care Bears occasionally meet.
Care-a-lot is a soft, warm, and snuggly place that looks like a cotton candy world of dreams-come-true. But this peaceful, dreamy place is really bustling with activity and fun. Care Bears tumble and bumble about, laughing and enjoying their endless playground. Some may be sliding down rainbows for fun while others are juggling the soft, pillow-like hearts which float freely by.
One Bear may be sweeping stardust off his cloud while another is catching it to sprinkle on someone’s rainy day. All the Bears move easily about— floating lazily when they’re not in a hurry or zipping along with a trail of shimmering color behind them when duty calls.
